Research project for RN Scope of Practice in Residential Aged Care

Suzanne Wood is a Registered Nurse and PhD candidate at The University of Queensland, currently recruiting RNs working in Australian residential aged care for the first phase of her PhD research.

I am writing to ask whether the ANMF NT Branch would be willing to support recruitment by distributing the questionnaire to members who are RNs currently working in residential aged care, or by sharing the invitation through an appropriate member communication channel.

My research is examining how RNs are currently using their scope of practice in residential aged care, with the broader aim of understanding how aged care organisations can better enable RNs to practise to their full professional scope. Reaching RNs working directly in residential aged care across all Australian states and territories is critical to building a meaningful national picture of current RN practice. The results of this questionnaire will provide the first quantifiable baseline measure of RN scope of practice in Australian residential aged care, which can be compared with international findings and used to assess changes in Australian practice over time.

The questionnaire takes approximately 5–7 minutes to complete, is voluntary, and anonymous.
